Stitch 'n Bitch Groups
The Knit and Knatter group meet weekly, sharing their skills, bringing their handiwork and creating group projects together. The group have created textiles from plastic bags, video and cassette tapes, string, anything we could get our hands on! We have made a giant scarf to decorate a sculpture as part of The Big Draw exhibition (in the Gallery at The Point), showcasing all our different stitches and skills. The group are currently making a notice board that will go on display at The Point and are besotted with making flowers as the final decorations!

Some quotes from the group:
‘We all learn different things – and we’re all learning from each other. This is what we used to do when we were young, our mums would show us how to make things, re-use what you had.’
‘I was thrilled last week when I went home because I’d taught someone how to make flowers… and I was excited about coming back again the next week to see what other things I could learn!’
‘We all learn how to do things in different ways – there are many ways to cast on! There isn’t a right or wrong way to do things. ‘
‘…And left handed knitting can be done! Don’t be put off’
‘When we knitted with video tape and plastic bags, I just didn’t realise you could - you never know what you can use to make something useful!’
