Do you wear/ use the clothes and things you make? 1 Year, 9 Months ago Karma: 16
DIY Fashion: Are people going to be making their own clothes in ten years time or do people take part in groups such as ravelry or stitch n bitch for the experience/ social pleasure?

Do you wear the clothes you make?

Why do you make your own things??

what do you get out of it?

Does making your own clothes encourage you to shop less?

I am a 3rd year student from the University of the Arts london (UAL). I am researching for my dissertation and would appreciate your views on this topic!
Thanks Katie

I have got to admit they are good questions. i will try and tell you why I love making things I wear!!! For me knitting has helped me with so much sorrow in my life. With each stitch i put in a needle I know it helps me focus on healing better. Besides, for me I will see a sweater in a store, and know I can find a pattern some what like it is. I will knit it and it will look better. I feel good about what I can do for me. I grew up in a life full of what must I do for you, instead of what I can do for me. All my life I have had to be a helper to some one else. Now, I found knitting, it has been a great joy for me. Besides before my wonderful sister died over eight years ago, I promised her I would keep knitting. I never break my promises.
